Conservatory Addition

After a lot of "bashing" I got the conservatory to fit onto the house where I wanted it.  It is a nice addition to the house and after it's finished and with landscaping around it, it will be a nice place for the little girl of the house to play and for "Aunt" to sit with a hot cup of tea.

I still have to install the plexiglass.  That will be no small feat as I have to cut it to allow for the modifications to the conservatory so that it fits nice and tight up to the house.  Not looking forward to that.  For now though it's painting time!

I decided on walnut flooring as I had a lot left over.  Since I originally had a step here to the outside, I'll have to decide how to cover the step.  Will probably use hardwood and just paint the edge with Burnt Umber which blends in really well with the flooring so you won't be able to notice it too much.

Very happy to have one more room to decorate!  Yahoo!

  1. Your conservatory is a Terrific addition to this property and the placement of it looks EXCELLENT! :D
It not adds only another interesting room for you to decorate, but keeps the footprint of the house compact- Beautiful Work Teresa!

    1. Thank you so much Elizabeth! I had to be creative in placement of the conservatory because the house will eventually sit on a basement with only so much space for landscaping. All's well that ends well!

  2. Or you could cover the step with stone and turn it into a feature with a potplant standing on one side. I love the conservatory addition!

    1. Thank you Megan! I had considered that and am now thinking I should do the whole floor that way to tie it all together. Stay tuned!

  3. Hello Teresa Marie,
The conservatory is such a great addition to the building. I really like the additions to the kit. It has so much character and feels like a Victorian mansion. Keep up the amazing work.

    1. Thank you so much Giac! My need for more space and balance have directed the additions. In hindsight, had I known, I'd have built a house from scratch with much larger rooms. Of course, this all comes after gaining confidence in what I've been doing. Ah, well, it's all good!

      Hugs,
      Teresa

  5. Hi Teresa - oh how many times have I wished for larger rooms.... Its an impossible game - if you didn't have years of making minis you wouldn't know how much having a house made just how you want it would be a dream come true but having put in all that time it feels silly to do it now.... I love any addition to any build as its another 'opportunity' waiting but a conservatory is a real bonus as it gives a whole other way of going about creating a room.

    1. A little late here "edhr" as I've only discovered that I need to approve comments. The conservatory is from a kit.
