Destruction But in a Good Way

Before I can move forward with lighting and wallpaper, I had to do some destruction. All the doors I ordered have been delivered and I set about installing them in the cottage. This involved enlarging the door openings which required a lot of muscle. I wish I thought about this before putting the cottage together, but alas, I didn't. I don't care for the doors that come with the kit as they're rather unappealing.

Now that the openings are ready for the new doors, I have one more problem. They are thicker than the 1/8 plywood that the cottage is made from, so I'm going to install some foam board around each opening to allow the door trim to fit properly against the wall. I also had to reorient the door opening on the bedroom door so that it opened against the wall instead of into the room. Then I can finally get on to the good stuff.

I'm glad I thought about this before installing the wallpaper. That could have been a disaster! Dear hubby also redid the hole for the spiral staircase as I wanted to change it's position to the back (or front depending on your point of view) of the cottage to give more room at the front (again depending on your point of view). Anyway now that's done, I'm hoping all the destruction is at an end and I can move forward.

I'm taking a little bit more time to make sure I've thought of everything. I'm a full steam ahead kind of gal . . . which gets me into a lot of trouble! LOL!

French doors to the parlor.

Main Hall and 2nd floor hall featuring the spiral staircase.

Door to bedroom.

The door I had to reorient so that it opens towards the windows.

Doors to the kitchen and bathroom/closet.

I just love a realistic door!

This door used to open the other way. I took it apart and reoriented the opening.
