Ivy Leaves and Pillows

I haven't worked on the manor since the middle-end of February, rather spending my time getting my big house in order.  Spring fever has hit, although the temperatures still leave a lot to be desired.  I'm trying to organize, paint and spring clean before warm weather hits so I can spend my time outside.  I plan on spending a lot of it outside this year soaking up some much needed Vitamin D from the sun.  I also have a few projects planned that I'm looking forward to.

The manor is never far off my mind and I did spend some time shopping for the perfect chandelier for the conservatory.  Yes, I decided it needed to have a chandelier and I found just the one from JGetzan Miniatures.  It's the Rosette Chandelier in gold. Their stuff is so gorgeous it's really hard to decide, but in the end I opted for this ivy leaved chandelier.  I think it will tie in beautifully with the feel I want for the room, which is made cozy with lots of plants.

I also ordered more pillows from Mondina Dollhouse on Etsy.  I can't get enough of her exquisite designs.

Friday Night Lights

Last night I got two of three chandeliers installed.  It was quite the effort to get the parlor chandelier in place as it was also being installed with a ceiling medallion.  Ever try threading a needle?  Ya, it was that much fun.  Anyway, both chandeliers look absolutely lovely.  The Hawaiian chandelier from JGetzan Miniatures graces the main floor hall and the Bella chandelier hangs in the parlor like a delicious piece of exquisite jewelry.  I love, love, love them!

Niggly Bits

I didn't have much time to work on the manor yesterday, so I decided to work on some of those niggly bits that have been keeping me up at night (not really, but it sounds good doesn't it?!).  Ha ha, anyway, I was able to finish up some wiring - the little elephant lamp my mom bought me for my birthday (which is residing in the study for now), a light fixture in the second floor hall that I had to replace because the old one kept giving me grief, and the fireplace in the study.  To my great relief, all the lights are working, at least for now.

I'm imagining a coffered ceiling in the dining room of Pennethorne Manor.  As usual, the manor is speaking to me and she says she wants one.  Like this . . .

I just love making more work for myself (she says with a sarcastic tone).  But when I get something in my head I can't let it go.  Now to figure out how to accomplish such a monumental task . . .

Slow and Steady Progress

My mom has been visiting from Canada so I've been sneaking in an hour here or there to work on the manor.  After the weekend with my friend Tracy, who did most of the electrical for me, I managed to install a few more lights and replaced the simple bedroom light with a three armed chandelier.

Let There be Light

I had a wonderful weekend with my dear friend Tracy who came up to install lights in the manor.  She is a true light master!  I learned a lot and feel confident enough to move forward installing the rest of the lights and the chandeliers when they arrive.

We only encountered a few hiccups which were easily resolved.  I am in awe of how detailed Tracy does her wiring . . . look at this.  Braided wires!  How pretty is that?
