The Water Closet

This is the last of the rooms to be completed as I had to wait to install the chandelier in the dining room below, which had to wait for the coffered ceiling to be finished.  Which was . . . yesterday.

I'm still waiting on a tiny bit (an eyelet actually) that fits up into the medallion on the chandelier, and then I can install it permanently.  In the meantime, I decided that I didn't like the flooring I made for the bathroom and so whilst pondering what to do about it before falling asleep the other night, an idea popped into my head, and I nodded off to la la land satisfied with my new found inspiration.  Thank you Angels!

I took a piece of wood flooring I had left over and cut two openings in it.  Then I cut apart the tile flooring from the bathroom and inserted them into the openings.  After taping it all together, I applied several coats of gloss Mod Podge and let it dry.

I have to say that I'm very pleased with myself.  I like it much better and it gives a different, higher end look (I think?!).  Then I played around with placement of the fixtures.  I'm so glad I enlarged this space.  I now have room for a small table next to the tub with a lamp on it and a heated towel rack.  I still need to install baseboard, but for now it's time for a bubble bath!

  1. I like the experimentation with the flooring, and you've got such a lovely and spacious bathroom! That is a luxury and I am sure your accessories will make the most of all that display space!
