The Pennethorne's have arrived despite the manor not being finished and insisted on moving in. Okay, so I was impatient to get my miniatures moved in, play around a bit and see what I still have to do on the interior. This probably wasn't the best idea, since I still have to electrify some lights (which means laying the manor on its' back) but since I'm waiting for a new transformer before I can do that, I thought I'd play!
I decided to add another transformer that will light the conservatory chandelier, balcony and front door lights and the gazebo light. I thought to do this as sometimes it's nice to have everyone sleeping on the inside whilst the night is lit with the outdoor lights. In hindsight it would have been nice to have all the rooms on switches to create different moods, but I think it will still be nice to create indoor and outdoor moods. Also, since the conservatory chandelier will be plugged in, I can just unplug it for a night time effect.
I tore apart the balcony alcove today because I just couldn't live with the posts being spaced wonky. I'm redesigning it a bit and hopefully it will look better.

This light fixture is meant to be on the newel post in the Main Floor Hall. In Victorian times it represented that the mortgage had been paid in full. However, if I put it in the Main Floor Hall you likely won't see it because of the staircase. I'm still thinking on its' placement.

Teresa: What incredible attention to detail! The whole house is absolute perfection! I don't do period miniatures but still admire the results of a true artist at work. Just one little note - I assume you are inviting us for afternoon tea which is the one usually served in the sitting room with lots of little sweets and finger sandwiches? High tea is so called because it is served at the "high" table instead of the "low" table. It is a more substantial meal served later in the evening for the adults - usually the main meal of the day. DeleteIt is so much fun to get to look at these artfully decorated and adorned rooms again, Teresa! So many lovely finishes and furnishings and the lighting sets the romantic mood perfectly! Is it too late to wish that the bathroom would be traded for a larger little girl's room and that the little girl's room be swapped out for an en suite? I know! Kill me now for mentioning it! But recently, you have gone back to edit a few things you wish you'd done originally, so I just wanted to encourage you if that was already a direction you were thinking about. If not, ignore me and just proceed with this magnificent build!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jodi! There is still so much finishing to do with all the little touches like curtains, doilies, objets d'art, and such. I've taken your suggestion to my higher authority (hubby! LOL!) and he agrees, as do I. I moved things around this morning and interestingly enough, I sensed that the manor breathed a sigh of relief! I've ordered wallpaper and flooring, and will begin deconstruction today. Thanks for not being afraid to make a suggestion. I appreciate it!! HUGS!!

DeleteI Simply Adore the richness of your interiors and the Welcoming Atmosphere of Pennethorne Manor! I don't blame the family for not wishing to extend their waiting to move in, a moment longer and I must say that their home feels like they've been in residence for decades!

I think that my favourite room is The Parlour but I'm loving the Master Bedroom too, and also the Grand Dining room with it's Fabulous coffered ceiling- WOW WOW WOW!

Thank you so much Elizabeth! Unfortunately, the family have moved out again as we are set upon deconstruction of the bathroom and little girl's room to swap them around. Oh the joy of removing trim and wallpaper! LOL!
