A Rethink on the Gazebo Steps

I woke up in the middle of the night to a very strange feeling.  I'm not sure what it was, but it made me feel very uneasy.  Perhaps it was the full moon or the stillness of the night, but whatever it was eventually I fell back to sleep.  But not after rehashing the gazebo steps over and over in my mind.

I decided I couldn't live with that big space in the middle of the top step (where I was going to apply grout and make it look like cement), so after playing around a bit, I came up with this . . .

The steps are really awkward because of the angle of the deck the gazebo is sitting on.  I made the angled cut to fit to the deck, but forgot to adjust it at the front.  So my steps are a little out of whack!  I just keep telling myself that the house is over 100 years old, so you can't expect perfection!

This afternoon I'll be applying the grout and starting the aging process . . . mine has already begun!  LOL!
