it's an interesting technique Teresa and here's my suggestion for what it's worth: Try cutting strips of white paper and laying it over the base; take a photo and compare it to the one above to see if you like the effect of them being whited out or not.
Hey! I like this look and didn't even know there was a name for it! In my world it would be called "didn't clean my grout off in time", lol! I do like it, though. It might look really neat over gray bricks!
